ACC-Orange County Helps Defeat Child Poverty By a Nose

05/26/2017

This May, American Career College students showed that silliness for the sake of philanthropy is always “right on the nose.”

From May 22-26, the ACC-Orange County campus supported the National Red Nose Day event by donning red noses to help fight child poverty.

ACC-OC students wore their red noses with pride and donated more than $760. Social media posts of students and staff donning their noses were tagged with #NosesOn.

"That means 763 children could receive a meal, since $1 can feed a child living in a homeless shelter, or 76 children will get needed immunizations or 150 sick children can visit mobile clinic doctors," ACC-OC Student Services Director Valerie Dickson said.

The Red Nose Day Organization is part of Comic Relief and has a goal to help provide healthcare, food, housing and educational opportunities to underserved children in all 50 states, as well as worldwide.
