Students from American Career College-Ontario showed their volunteer spirit this spring by providing no-cost health services to community residents.
ACC vocational nursing students spent a day at the annual Love Fontana community health fair, where they set up screening stations for families at the event. Students were able to check blood pressure, assess motor skills, and provide other crucial health screenings to those in need.
A group of ACC optical technician students also left their mark in the community of Pomona by partnering with the California Lions Club’s Friends in Sight to help provide no-cost vision screenings and glasses to more than 350 patients.
“Students enjoyed the real-world experience,” ACC-Ontario optical tech program director Karina Castaneda said. “And they enjoyed seeing just how grateful the community was.”
