Dear ACC Students,

We understand there is a far-reaching impact to everyday life as we experience the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the United States. Our hearts go out to any of our ACC family that has been affected. We continue to monitor the situation and are working to make real-time adjustments to our educational programs and policies. We have two goals: to protect our students, faculty, associates and community, and to cause as little disruption as possible to your educational journey. It is important to note, that as of this time, no ACC student or faculty has contracted the COVID-19 virus.

ACC leadership made the decision to make the following modifications to our programs, and in the way we deliver courses in order to ensure the safety of our students. On Monday, March 15, during your normally scheduled class day, we will utilize the time to communicate how your course delivery modality may be temporarily adjusted. Because ACC has several programs with their own unique requirements, we ask each of you to come to class tomorrow, or to work with your teacher so that you understand how your class may be impacted.

Our goal is to move lecture courses, or at least parts of each course, online. For courses that have clinical and extern components, we are working with our hospital partners to limit student contact with patients in isolation, or who may have come in contact with COVID-19. As a healthcare student, you are valuable members of the healthcare team, and can provide meaningful care during this crisis. For those of you who are scheduled for your extern or clinical at sites that no longer allow students at their sites, we are working on alternative learning opportunities to minimize the disruption to your education.

Our healthcare programs include important hands-on learning. To allow you to continue gaining important experience, we are adjusting the schedules and room assignments to minimize the number of students in each classroom. The goal is to limit class sizes to 20 students or less. These adjustments would also be made to classrooms where labs and proctored exams would take place. Our goal is to promote social distancing as recommended by the CDC.

This situation is fluid and we are working to keep everyone informed as things change. Please contact your instructor if you have not received directions on how your course delivery is changing. The student services department is also available to help.

In addition, several school districts have set up resources for childcare and meal programs, with many schools being closed for the next several weeks. We encourage you to visit your school district’s website for any information or resources that may be available.

We thank each and every one of you for your commitment to ACC, your community and yourself.  Together, we will get through this unprecedented time.

Sincerely,

ACC Administration
