Dear ACC Family,
What a week it has been already. First of all, I would like to thank and congratulate all of our students, faculty, and staff for doing such a heroic job of transitioning during this most difficult time. Thank you to our faculty who have shown ingenuity and creativity in delivering content and instruction in ways they never have. And thank you to our students, who have shown resolve, flexibility and true grit in the face of adversity! I hope that what is going on around us has further solidified your decision to enter the world of healthcare.
We know from time to time there will be hiccups and frustrations. But like with any family, we know we are all working for each other. We received questions from some students regarding the “hands-on” clinical or extern portion of their programs. Our primary goal right now is to limit the disruption of your program as much as possible. We are working hard to keep your graduation date on track. More than ever, healthcare workers will be needed to serve our communities as we fight through this healthcare crisis.
We understand that a big part of being a properly trained healthcare professional is a fundamental understanding of the skills needed for your chosen career. We are working with state and accrediting agencies to navigate the current disruption to clinical hours. Our plan as of now, is that once this crisis has passed, we will be doing intense clinical practice and skills boot camps to make sure every graduate of ACC is prepared to enter their chosen field of study. We understand that things are very fluid. We appreciate your patience and trust as we work through this together.
As we reflect on last week, we are very excited about our progress and the engagement from both our students and faculty. We finished last week with 94% attendance across our three campuses. That is an extremely exciting statistic as we continue to embrace technology in our classrooms and adaptability to the world around us. Through this, we will discover new ways to teach, new ways to learn, and new ways to communicate.
