About 20 American Career College students and staff attended the most recent Inspire Club luncheon at ACC-St. Francis. Food was served, stories were shared and raffle tickets were handed out.

NeCole Ethridge was orginally invited to be the event's guest speaker, but then mentioned that her 19-year-old son was starting the Physical Therapist Assistant program at ACC-Orange County in February.

"So not only are you an inspiration, but now you're eligible for the Inspire Club's raffle," Student Resource Center Manager Norlean Cedeno said, handing Ethridge a ticket.

Students can join the Inspire Club when they refer a friend or family to enroll at American Career College. Other perks include a special collectors pin for each person you inspire, a special VIP (Very Inspiring Person) lanyard and graduation ceremony benefits like VIP seating for friends and family and special acknowledgement during the event.

Ethridge, a vocational nursing graduate from ACC and the ATI/NCLEX success coordinator at ACC-St. Francis, shared with the group about her journey into health care and the challenges of doing it while raising two children born prematurely.

"I'm so proud to be a part of an organization that has based much of its success on students that not only entrust their future in our hands, but trust us enough to recommend family, friends, and loved ones to be a part of the ACC family," ACC-St. Francis Career Services Director Alejandra Ochoa said.

During the meeting, Ochoa shared a video of Malala Yousafzai addressing the United Nations Youth Assembly on her 16th birthday. Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for female education, was shot at age 12 by the Taliban while travelling to school but survived to become the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize winner.

"If you ever doubt for one second what one person can do to change the world, think about this girl," Ochoa told the group.
