ACC-Los Angeles Begins New Year With First Vocational Nursing Pinning of 2020

01/06/2020

Nearly 20 graduates from American Career College-Los Angeles began the new year by becoming the first vocational nursing cohort of 2020 to receive their nursing pin.

ACC-Los Angeles VN program director Anissa Alfaro welcomed the friends and families of the graduating cohort to Seton Hall at St. Vincent Medical Center this January. Alfaro complimented the cohort for completing the 52-week-long program and said she was especially proud that more than half of the cohort had already completed their NCLEX exam and were officially licensed vocational nurses.

"Sleepless nights. Remember those? Crying when those tests were too difficult to handle? Those patients that really touched your heart and made you believe this was what you wanted to do for the rest of your life," Alfaro told the cohort. "And for some of you, this is only the beginning. Some of you will travel on to become RNs, nurse practitioners. And the beauty of nursing is that it doesn’t end at the bedside. You can become educators, leaders in nursing, researchers. You can make a difference in so many ways, it’s just a matter of how you want to develop in this career. So I’m really proud of you for getting to this point. All your hard work has paid off."

Cohort speakers for the event included Jessica Flores, Lucinda Saucedo, Katherine Palencia, Kianaelisa Webster and Manuel Ayala.
