American Career College and West Coast University students got plenty of hands-on experience while volunteering at the four-day CareHarbor LA health clinic.
More than 50 ACC students from the Optical Technician program participated at CareHarbor LA and five ACC students attended all four days. Nearly 80 dental assisting students from the ACC Los Angeles campus also volunteered their time during the event.
Student volunteers helped provide free medical, dental and vision care to the uninsured, underinsured and underserved in the greater Los Angeles community from Oct. 15-18. The free event at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena had 100 dental chairs, multiple lanes for vision exams, primary care and subspecialty exam rooms, a women’s health section, dispensary and many other resources.
ACC and WCU students stepped up and assisted medical professionals with everything from dental fillings, extractions and cleanings to eye exams and prescription glasses, from medical evaluations and procedures to immunizations and screenings.
